Tips for Banking While Lobbies are Closed

Mar 19, 2020 || Heather Waffle, Manager

We know all the news around COVID-19 is stressful. We’d like to make accessing and managing your money a little less stressful. Here are our best tips for banking while our (and most financial institution’s) lobbies are closed:

Use our drive-ups or ITMs

While our lobbies are closed, you can still use our drive-up lanes and interactive teller machines (ITMs). View our hours and locations. To decide which is best for you, we’ve broken down the difference:

At the drive-up you can:

  • Get cash
  • Deposit cash
  • Loan advances, payments and payoffs
  • Transfer funds between IHMVCU accounts
  • Print statements and tax forms
  • Money orders and cashier’s checks
  • Direct deposit sign-ups
  • IHMVCU Visa credit card cash advance
  • Check orders
  • Troubleshoot Online Branch issues
  • Reissue IHMVCU debit cards
  • Set travel strategies
  • Name and address changes
  • Cash savings bonds (members only)
  • Close business and consumer accounts
  • Send funds via Directo Mexico
  • ACH set-up and changes
  • IRA and CD requests
  • Cash IHMVCU checks for non-members

At an ITM you can:

  • Get cash
  • Deposit cash
  • Loan advances, payments and payoffs
  • Internal transfers
  • Securely email statements and tax forms
  • Troubleshoot Online Branch issues
  • Name and address changes

If an in-person meeting is necessary, schedule an appointment.

We know life isn’t completely halted despite the coronavirus. If you have a loan in process, our loan officers will keep you in the loop. If you need an in-person meeting, we’re happy to schedule. To schedule an in-person appointment, please call 309-793-6200 or 800-722-0333, press 2.

Use online and mobile banking for many transactions

Practice social distancing by doing your banking with your phone or desktop. You can do a lot (including deposit checks, make payment, transfer funds, check your balances, and more). If you haven’t already, make sure you’re enrolled in Online Branch.

Pro tip: Once you’re enrolled, check out the how-to tutorials to learn how to use Online Branch.

While you’re at it, download our mobile app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store for easy access at your fingertips.

Keep hand sanitizer in your car.

We’re doing our best to reduce the spread of the virus. Keep some hand sanitizer in your car and use it before and after visiting one of our drive-ups or ITMs.

Pro tip: Use your knuckles when pushing buttons.

Skip a loan payment or apply for an emergency loan

We know many people are falling on hard financial times because of the coronavirus. That’s why we’re allowing members to skip one loan payment during March or April. You can request deferment with our secure online chat, by secure messaging in Online Branch or calling 309-793-6200 or 800-722-0333, press 3.

In addition, an emergency loan is available to replace lost income and includes no payments for 60 days. For details, visit IHMVCU.org/COVID19 or call 309-793-6200 or 800-722-0333, press 3.

Opening an account

If you’re looking to open a new account, whether you’re new to the credit union or not, we’ve got you covered. Fill out this form and one of our team members will give you a call to open the account over the phone.

We’re weathering this storm with you. Wishing you health and comfort during this scary time. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to call us.
